Welcome to Atlas! Where Old Hueys Come to Die!!
After your two weeks of computer lessons, expect to have a day or two of learning your new ground job and then get ready to jump into things. The first event will be FAM-00 ('Double-Nuts') which is basically equivalent to fam-0 from advanced. Make sure you know your stuff but don't get too worked up about it. It is essentially a walkthrough of pre-flight, maintenance, weight and balance, etc. You need to know all the information ahead of time because FAM-000 will be the next morning and you'll be held responsible for everything.
Use your issued preflight guide and gouge up the margins with all the UH-1N Extra info. Grab your buddy ahead of you and get him to walk you through a preflight and do your best to know what every box and engine part is. Lastly, if you get the chance, listen in on one of the enlisted aircrew students' preflight walk-around. Usually it's a LCpl stud going through with a SSgt instructor, you'll learn a lot. The flight line shop will be able to tell you their schedule.
